About Consumer Recalls USA
Consumer Recalls USA is a free, independent database that aggregates product safety recall notices issued by U.S. federal agencies. Our mission is simple: make recall information easy to find, understand, and act on — before someone gets hurt.
Every year, tens of thousands of products are recalled across food, drugs, medical devices, vehicles, and consumer goods. That information is public, but it's scattered across multiple government websites with inconsistent formats, limited search capabilities, and no single place to see the full picture. We fix that. We collect recall data daily from the FDA, CPSC, NHTSA, and USDA, normalize it into a consistent format, and present it in one searchable, browsable database — free to anyone.
Consumer Recalls USA is an independent service operated for the public good. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by any government agency. Our goal is simply to surface information that helps consumers make safer decisions for themselves and their families.
Our Data Sources
- FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) — We ingest recall data from the openFDA API, covering food recalls, drug recalls, and medical device recalls. The FDA's recall database is one of the most comprehensive public health datasets available.
- CPSC (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission) — Consumer product recalls — everything from children's toys and nursery furniture to power tools and appliances — come from the CPSC SaferProducts.gov API.
- NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) — Vehicle recalls, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, and equipment, are sourced from NHTSA's public recall database. We also support VIN lookups so you can check a specific vehicle.
- USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) — Meat, poultry, and egg product recalls issued by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) are included in our food recall coverage.
