A DEFECT IN THE FRONT LOCK PORTION OF THE FIFTH WHEEL CASTING (A STRUCTURAL, LOAD BEARING COMPONENT OF THE FIFTH WHEEL ASSEMBLY) CAUSES A CRACK IN THE CASTING. THIS CRACK CAN PROPAGATE OVER TIME.
